About

Sieberts Coastline Contracting has been in business in North and West Vancouver for over twenty years, and since 2022 on Gabriola.

While I could be considered a “Ken of all trades”, what I really enjoy is working with wood. Growing up on a large farm in northern Alberta gave me a love for plants and animals. When I was ten years old I built my first two-story treehouse out of scrap lumber and bent used nails. I have always excelled in carpentry, and also have experience in electrical, plumbing, working with concrete, and other trades.

More recently I have started to focus on the design and installation of rainwater harvesting systems on Gabriola. Water collection and storage is an area of great need as we experience the long summer droughts brought on by climate change. We need sustainability on this island to grow our own organic food and collect our own water.

In addition to milling my own logs, I am certified in timberframing (Island School of Building Arts). I own an array of equipment including a one tonne diesel truck, a backhoe, a dump trailer, a log splitter, a log mill, and more carpentry tools than Bob Villa.

Landscaping and hardscaping are two of my areas of expertise, such as building an arbour from logs and driftwood, and creating patios using pavers, and retaining walls with concrete blocks.  Many projects need deliveries of gravel, soil, or mulch which I can supply, as well as remove garden debris.

As an avid organic gardener, a more recent project of mine has been building a food forest with permaculture principles including composting, vermiculture, and wicking beds. My food forest provides me with an abundance of fruit including cherry, apple and plum trees, grapes, raspberries, haskups, currents, blueberries, and strawberries.

I enjoy designing and creating an oasis or retreat for relaxing with family and friends in the garden.
